Component and process development in injection molding

Developing plastic components means understanding the relationships between material, manufacturing process, and component design. Only through this collaboration do the actual material properties emerge.
This means that components made from polymer materials must be designed from the outset not only with functional aspects in mind but also with regard to material and process behavior. In particular, dimensional accuracy and mechanical stability are significantly influenced by the manufacturing process (tool design, process settings)

Damage analysis

We can make the troubleshooting of a component failure transparent for our customers. With the help of our laboratory analysis, we try to trace back the material and processing history.

Through thermoanalytical analysis and microscopy, we can uncover potential material, processing, or application errors based on the process-induced material structure (e.g., crystallization, filler orientation, etc.).

Consulting on polymers: thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers

In both component and process development, as well as in the “subsequent” analysis of damage cases, the specific material characteristics of each type of plastic must be taken into account. Semi-crystalline thermoplastics differ from amorphous ones, and unfilled/reinforced ones differ from filled ones.

Thermosetting plastics and elastomers undergo an additional chemical cross-linking process during processing. All of this makes plastics technology extremely versatile, but also demanding.

Converting metal components 1:1 into plastic will not work, nor will converting thermoplastic into thermoset.

We support you in the development of your components with a blend of competent scientific/industrial knowledge and a solid technological background in injection molding.
